 索契冬運／男子速滑500M 荷蘭滑出隊史首金

荷蘭首度在男子競速滑冰500公尺項目衝擊金牌，還一口氣包辦前三名，也是賽史第一次有同一國家包辦前三名。
競速滑冰領域，荷蘭一向是世界強權，但偏重在長距離項目，上屆溫哥華冬運，500公尺領域首次由亞州選手包辦前三，這一屆版圖又為之丕變。
Michel Mulder以69秒312奪金，Jan Smeekens獲得銀牌，成績69秒324，銅牌由Michel Mulder的雙胞胎兄弟Ronald Mulder拿下，滑出69秒46。
這是荷蘭男子滑冰隊繼5000公尺項目後，再度於單一項目中包辦金銀銅，上屆奪金的南韓選手牟太釩，這次名列第四，成績為69秒69。
